Cryptographer

We're looking for a cryptographer to make Plasma's records and permissions verifiable. You'll design and build the cryptography that shows who authorized an agent, what it was allowed to do, and what it did.

You design the protocols and ship the code that implements them. The role is both research and product: problems like delegating limited authority to agents are still open, and your answers ship into Plasma's audit trail.

What You'll Work On

  • Verifiable Audit Trails: Design tamper-evident logs, so anyone reviewing an agent's work can check that no entry was changed or removed

  • Delegated Authority: Build credentials that let a person grant an agent limited, revocable permissions, and let that agent pass narrower permissions to others

  • Agent Identity: Give each agent an identity that persists between runs and that other agents and services can check

  • Key Management: Design how keys are generated, stored, rotated, and revoked

  • Review: Review cryptographic protocols and implementations across the platform

What We're Looking For

  • Graduate training or research in cryptography, or equivalent experience shipping cryptographic systems

  • Experience with digital signatures, hash-based structures such as Merkle trees and transparency logs, and delegated authorization

  • Experience implementing cryptography in production in a language such as Rust, Go, or C++, with attention to side channels and misuse

  • Familiarity with HSMs, cloud key management, or secure enclaves

  • Interest in zero-knowledge proofs or verifiable computation is a plus
